By , About.com Guide

Definition:

Funds of funds are mutual funds that are made up of other mutual funds. For example the underlying holding of a single mutual fund might be a large-cap stock mutual fund, a small-cap mutual fund, an international stock fund a bond mutual fund and a money market fund. The idea is for the investor to gain access to a diversified group of mutual funds within one mutual fund.
